Coined by early explorers as the Atlantis of the North, the Arctic is a desolate, intense land colder than even Antarctica. Anthropologist Kate Foster accepts a job at an isolated research facility on a remote island surrounded by a vast ocean of crushing Pack Ice. Her scientific expedition becomes a mission of survival when she is joined by Detective Jack Decker with the Alaska Bureau of Investigations. Kate and Decker’s team of criminologists race against time to solve the gruesome and multiple homicides of her colleagues while someone, or something (thought to be extinct), is hunting them.

White Death eBook Jack Castle

I LOVED this mystery! As a former Research Assistant and current Science Teacher, I greatly appreciated that the facts that were correctly presented. At times it was hard to tell if this was really a fictional story or an account of something that really happened. The book is suspenseful, but did not make my stomach churn. I have read parts of it in the classroom to my 8th grade Earth Science class, especially when we were studying glaciers, mapping, and other subjects that were presented very well in this book. Exciting story by an amazing author! Thank you, Jack!

White Death eBook Jack Castle Reviews

Another book from jack castle hits the mark with an "I can't put it down" story. There's suspense around every corner and you'll be hanging on till the end... and as always I'm looking forward to the next book from jack castle!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's rare to find an author who so expertly blends action, adventure and suspense that I had a hard time putting the book down. With my nose in this book I left my day-to-day life and was transported to the cold horrors of an isolated research facility being stalked by - what? There are plenty edge of your seat moments blended with facts (that don't lecture or distract) and the ice station comes to life. I can't wait to read more of Mr. Castle's books. I only see three currently listed so I am hoping for long line of great books to look forward to. I highly recommend this book to lovers of the action/adventure genre.
I just finished reading all three of Jack Castle's books in a five-day rollercoaster ride of fast-paced action, thrills and suspense. Wow! I love this writer, and am greatly looking forward to his next book.

White Death is set in the Arctic where it appears there is a blood thirsty prehistoric creature still lurking about. Or is there? Of course there is the prerequisite mega storm to rachet up the suspense, trapping our main characters in a remote scientific outpost as they investigate why the team of scientist who had been stationed there before had all been brutally murdered. I love the way prehistoric archeology is blended into this story, and the premise is based on actual theories. The continued near brushes with death are not believable, no one has that kind of luck, but I didn't care. I was quite happy to suspend belief as I got caught up in this page turner.

Jack Castle is a very good writer. He makes you care about the characters, whether you like them or not. If you enjoy suspense stories set in the frozen extremities of our world, I urge you to give this one a try. My one "complaint" is that it's too short at 200 pages. The ending is an obvious set up for a sequel, which I normally hate, but it is nonetheless a satisfying and unambiguous ending. I always avoid books with cliffhangers or WTH endings, but this didn't frustrate me in the least. It just made me happy to think the adventure might continue in the future.

If you are looking for a quick, exciting read and an armchair adventure, give this book a try. I'm so glad I did and, in the process, have discovered a new author I really love.
Wow, I’m so glad I discovered this author. White Death is a great and gripping story told in a fast paced, yet easily flowing style. I was totally hooked after the first few pages. I’ll admit to being a fan of stories with a locale of the Arctic (or Antarctic). This book hits the high points trapped in a forbidding Arctic research facility by a raging storm, a series of horrific murders, an unearthed mystery and a creature from prehistory, an investigative team and reluctant archeologist attempting to solve the case but ultimately to simply survive. There’s mystery, suspense and growing horror within each chapter. It’s a real page turner and difficult to put down. Admittedly, I did have to suspend belief sometimes during miraculous escapes from death events but it’s a fun read so who cares. The ending certainly provides a setup for a sequel. I certainly hope so.
I read White Death cover to cover in one sitting. It's a classic adventure story, with fantastic suspense, stunning realism and just a touch of romance. The polished writing, well developed characters and ancient mysteries left me hungry for more. I eagerly await future tales from Jack Castle!
I really enjoyed Europa Journal and Bedlam Lost...and once again Jack does not disappoint with his 3rd book!!!

The sense of realism and attention to detail was literally frightening. After reading, I felt as though I'd actually returned from a murder investigation in the Arctic! I always appreciate the 'fun facts' I learn from Mr. Castle's books. For example, trans-Arctic sailing routes and scientific discoveries of landmasses and artifacts that haven't been seen in over ten thousand years!

Thanks Jack for yet another fun read!!!
Another fantastic tale from the creative mind of Jack Castle! After reading 3 of his books, I am amazed that he can produce a great story line in a variety of genres. It is evident that the author's many adventures and life experiences inject a sense of reality into his writing. White Death is full of surprises and has enough light moments to offset the rather dark theme. Great suspense and consistent action will keep you turning the pages. This is a great read and I look forward to the next Jack Castle book...whatever it may be!
